The Indoor Track is the result of the dream of cofounder Zig Ziegler, The Sports Kinesiologist. While in graduate school at the University of Northern Colorado nearly 30 years ago, Zig came up with the concept of a privately owned, indoor facility dedicated 100% to the sport of track and field.  The course "Facility Design and Management" gave Zig the opportunity to sketch out the design, plan programs, and create a vision which is being brought to life today.

At the time, Zig worked as an assistant track and field coach and oversaw the school's weight room as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach.  In 2020, after nearly 30 years in the industry developing relationships and working with some of the biggest names in sports (including Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley,  Shaquille O'Neal, Ryan Howard, Tiger Woods, Bethanie Mattek-Sands, Paula Creamer, to name a few), Zig decided to close down his sports performance and rehab clinic and pursue his dream in track and field.

Why track and field?

After two years of soccer in middle school, Zig discovered a love for fitness and running. Borrowing his older brother's membership card to US Swim and Fitness, Zig found his way into the gym almost daily,  regularly working out in the summer before his 10th grade year of high school.  As a sophomore at Parkview High School in Little Rock, Arkansas, Zig's performance in the President's Council on Fitness test caught the attention of his PE teacher and head track coach, Sonny Jolly, who invited Zig to join the school's cross country team.  That year, Zig competed in the Arkansas State Cross Country Championships and he was hooked on the sport. The next semester Zig discovered the hurdles after transferring to Hall High, competing under Coach Roy Wade and Ellis "Scooter" Register.

After high school Zig earned a full athletic scholarship to Oklahoma State University, after being noticed at a Fellowship of Christian Athletes summer camp by Jim Bolding, the legendary intermediate hurdler and cowboy track coach. Unable to compete at OSU in his first year due to injuries and academic, Zig focused on summer track season and the US Juniors National Championships where he earned a 5th place finish in the 110M hurdles, missing a spot on the Under 20 World Championships team by 2/10ths of a  second.

Still searching for the right home in the sport, Zig later transferred to Western Colorado State University (formerly Western State College), where he competed in the 110 meter hurdles and 400 meter intermediate hurdles. Inspired by legendary athlete, Bob Beamon, Zig added the long jump finishing his career as a two time conference champion in the long jump with a personal best of 24-7 1/2.   Though his all-time personal best of 13.88 seconds was set during his freshman year, Zig still holds the school record in the 110 meter hurdlers at Western, running 14.20 seconds into a 2.5 mph headwind.  Zig still ranks among the top 10 all time performances at the school in several events.

Since hangin up his spikes, Zig has remained passionate about the sport as a coach, athlete mentor and fan.   Male and female athletes coached by Zig, set school records at the University of Northern Colorado, high school state records in Arizona, and competed in national championship meets and olympic trials in events ranging from the 100 meters to 800, hurdles and other field events.

"When it's your calling, it will keep calling you!"

- Zig Ziegler

To launch The Indoor Track, Zig teamed up with former college roommate Ross Giles as well as long time friend and business associate Jamir Miller. Giles led the nation in punt returns after being talked into competing on the team's 4x100 Meter relay and sprints.  Miller, the number 1 draft pick of the Arizona Cardinals and former high school sprinter at his Oakland high school, brings a vast amount of business experience to the team.

Together, this close team of co-founders bring over 75 years of experience and a passion for assisting young athletes with achieving anything and everything that is available to them through sports, faith, and fitness!
